This session is a continuation of the presentation “Shaping Success: Using Behavior Principles to Enhance Supervision,” which focused on addressing performance and skill-based supervision challenges. Participants do not need to have attended the initial presentation to benefit from this session. This follow-up presentation shifts the focus to interpersonal issues that commonly arise within the supervisory relationship. Participants will review common barriers and learn strategies, including Behavior Skills Training (BST), to improve communication, feedback, and collaboration. The session emphasizes practical tools to strengthen supervisory relationships and support effective, ongoing supervision.

1. Identify at least two common interpersonal barriers to effective supervision and describe one strategy to address them.
2. Apply the components of Behavior Skills Training (BST) to teach communication and professional interaction skills in supervision.
3. Deliver behavior-based- supervisory feedback that targets interpersonal skill development and increases supervisee engagement within the supervisory relationship.
