Overview

To bring together medical professionals, biomedical scientists, government agencies, and industrial partners that are dedicated to eradicate the disease, broadly defined, of urinary tract infections. This includes the specific manifestations of infection in different patient populations and their sequelae, for the discovery of new diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative approaches. As part of a long-term plan for managing urinary tract infection, we also have a training mission to recruit and support early career researchers and those not traditionally represented in medicine and research as they transition into the next generations of experts. The 2024 Clinical and Scientific Advances in Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) Conference will specifically focus on promoting the next generation of researchers and clinicians. As a result, the conference specifically strives to highlight the accomplishments of junior faculty members and trainees. Participation of junior faculty members and trainees is heavily encouraged, with possible travel support provided by the conference organizers for those with abstracts that are submitted and accepted.

Intended Audience

Any clinical providers who support patients with urinary tract infections (physicians, surgeons, physician extenders, nursing staff), veterinarians, as well as translational and discovery scientists with an interest in urinary tract infection pathogenesis.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Recognize the patient populations prone to urinary tract infections and factors involved in their increased susceptibility to infection.
  2. Analyze practical considerations of caring for patients with urinary tract infections and implementing treatment.
  3. Employ improvement changes in urinary tract infection management and prevention.
  4. Alter the long-term sequelae of having had a urinary tract infection
  5. Apply education on urinary tract infection pathology by merging the clinical impact with the research efforts in the laboratory.
  6. Identify new approaches to prevent and treat urinary tract infection
  7. Understand how co-morbidities and demographics may influence urinary tract infection susceptibility and severity

Registration

Pre-registration is preferred. However, walk-in registration will be available during the conference for the cost of the base registration fee as well as an additional $50.

Accreditation
In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Urinary Tract Infection Global Alliance. Nationwide Children’s Hospital is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), to provide continuing medical education for the healthcare team.
