Overview
Continuing education for all stakeholders across the perinatal care environment on racial bias, stigma, discrimination, and the effects of structural racism in reproductive health. This effort is in support of our community goal to create equitable Black patient experiences and outcomes in infant mortality.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Increase intent to change behavior (measured by pre/post survey)
  2. Increase awareness of health disparities (measured by pre/post survey)
  3. Communicate with Black-led Community Based Organization to understand t disparities.
  4. Incorporate patient feepatients with lived experience in content development
  5. Engage 90% of women’s health service line employees within central Ohio’s healthcare systems in annual ongoing continuing education over 5 years

Please join us for the Addressing Racism in Maternal-Infant Care - Setting the Baseline. In order to register for this free event, please click on the links below. Both sessions will be offered in-person at Nationwide Children's Hospital and virtually via zoom. 

  • History of Racism within Women's Health Session One will occur on January 24, 2023 from 7:00AM - 8:00AM. 
  • History of Racism within Women's Health Session Two will occur January 31, 2023 from 12:00PM - 1:00PM.

  • Obstetric Racism - It's Etiology and Impact on Black Maternal, Infant and Family Health Session One will occur March 14, 2023 from 12:00PM - 1:00PM.

  • Obstetric Racism - It's Etiology and Impact on Black Maternal, Infant and Family Health Session Two will occur March 23, 2023 from 7:00AM - 8:00AM.

  • “I just want us to be heard”: A collaborative approach to understanding perinatal experiences among Women of Color (WOC) Session One will occur May 9, 2023 from 12:00PM - 1:00PM.

  • “I just want us to be heard”: A collaborative approach to understanding perinatal experiences among Women of Color (WOC) Session Two will occur May 24, 2023 from 7:00AM - 8:00AM.
  • "Toxic: A Black Woman's Story" will occur on August 31, 2023, from 12:00PM - 1:00PM.

In support of improving patient care, Nationwide Children's Hospital is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC),  the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for the healthcare team.
