Overview

Promoting Well Being Through System Collaboration

The Ohio Foster Care Summit is a collaborative two-day event bringing together healthcare professionals, child welfare teams, foster and kinship families, group homes and residential facilities and youth with lived experience. This engaging conference highlights statewide initiatives, practical strategies, and trauma-informed approaches to improve care and support for youth in foster care. Through expert presentations, interactive sessions, and shared stories, attendees will gain actionable tools to strengthen collaboration, enhance stability, and improve outcomes for youth across Ohio.

Target Audience: Healthcare professionals, child welfare staff and caseworkers, foster and kinship families, group homes and residential facilities, aged-out or alumni youth, and any individuals or programs invested in the success and well-being of children in foster care.

Foster parents are eligible to receive continuing education (CE) credit from their licensing agency. Foster parents must receive approval from their licensing agency to attend the conference and must upload the certificate of attendance after the conference. 


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify and address key challenges facing Ohio’s youth in foster care.
  2. Strengthen cross-system collaboration and communication across the healthcare team.
  3. Empower foster youth and families through communication of shared experiences and education.
  4. Identify sustainable foster care resource networks across Ohio.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Nationwide Children's Hospital is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC),  and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), to provide continuing medical education for the healthcare team.

The Nationwide Children's Hospital designates this live activity for a maximum of 13.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Nationwide Children's Hospital has been authorized by the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 13.0 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.   

Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs.  Nationwide Children's Hospital
designates this activity for 13.0 continuing education credits.

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Nationwide Children's Hospital is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 13.0 general continuing education credits.

Cancellations received in writing no less than 20 days before the course will be refunded, less a 20% administrative fee. No refunds will be made on cancellations received after that date. Please send cancellation requests to [email protected].
