Overview

Fourteenth Annual Myology Course Presented by Nationwide Children’s Hospital, The Ohio State University, and NCH Wellstone Muscular Dystrophy Specialized Research Center’s Training Core

August 25 to August 29, 2025 | In Person

Featuring faculty from Nationwide Children’s Hospital, The Ohio State University, the NCH/OSU Center for Muscle Health & Neuromuscular Disorders, and invited national and international experts, this in-person course is oriented toward medical and doctorate level trainees, with a goal of providing an up-to-date survey of neuromuscular diseases. The expert faculty will address clinical syndromes, mechanisms of pathogenesis, molecular therapeutics and aspects of career development.

This is the only workshop of its kind in the United States, featuring a mix of basic and clinical science lectures followed by specific training in either clinical treatment protocols or basic science laboratory techniques. The goal of these courses is to help trainees go beyond a basic understanding of muscle disease by gaining insights and experience from experts in the field. We ultimately want to help prepare the next generation of clinicians and translational researchers for successful research careers.

Both clinical and laboratory-based trainees are welcome. We have structured the course so that both groups will be together for morning lectures. In the afternoon, clinical trainees will participate in more focused clinical activities while laboratory trainees will participate in wet-lab activities. At the end of each day, the groups will rejoin for a keynote lecture.

Thanks to the generous support of the Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy and to support from the NCH Wellstone Muscular Dystrophy Clinical Research Center’s Training Core, there is no cost for this course, and hotel accommodations are also included. Transportation will be provided between Nationwide Children's Hospital and The Ohio State University for course events, as well as to and from the hotel, but trainees will be responsible for airfare to Columbus. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. Dinner will be provided Thursday night only.

Registration

Registration does not constitute your final acceptance in the course. Although attendance is free, registration is required.

Once registered, you'll receive an email with further instructions.

If choosing the lab track - you will be prompted to fill out a Microsoft Form and to email your CV to Dr. Megan Waldrop at [email protected].

Note: If choosing Lab Track, you will have the chance to rank your lab choices.

If choosing the clinical track - please email your CV to Dr. Megan Waldrop at [email protected].

Reminder - Space is limited.

After the Committee team has a chance to review your registration and your CV, you'll receive an email from the Conference team with an acceptance or a denial.

If accepted, a hotel room will be reserved for those attendees attending from outside the Columbus metropolitan area. We advise that you not purchase plane tickets until you receive your final acceptance.
