Overview

The Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society (GCMAS) is a multi-disciplinary organization of physicians, allied health professionals, engineers, biomechanists and scientists working together to advance scientific knowledge, technical capabilities, and clinical practice in the field of human movement. The purpose of the annual meeting conference is to share recent advancements in human movement aimed at improving functional outcomes and quality of life for individuals with any movement disorder at any age.

Pre-Course

  • GCMAS is pleased to offer a two-day in-depth pre-course at the 2025 conference.  Day 1 pre-course attendees will have the option to choose the clinical or technical tracks (see below). Those who attended the inaugural GCMAS pre-course in 2024, or those with advanced knowledge of clinical gait analysis, also have the option to attend only the interactive case review session on Day 2.

  • Day 1 – Basics of Clinical Gait Analysis

Clinical Track – aims to provide all clinical gait lab staff with basic background education necessary for becoming competent in reading and interpreting a gait evaluation.  The first half of the course will include didactic material covering components of typical gait, anatomy of gait graphs, and reading of kinematics/kinetics graphs, EMG, and foot pressures. The second half of the course will be an interactive session reviewing patient examples.

Technical Track – aims to provide the necessary education for understanding the technical aspects of a clinical gait model. The course will cover basic aspects of constructing a kinematic and kinetic gait model, data processing, and equipment quality assurance programs.

  • Day 2 – Joint Case Review Session

Participants from both the clinical and technical tracks will come together for an interactive and engaging case review session.

Groups of 5+ attendees are eligible for a DISCOUNT!

  • If your lab or group will have 5 or more attendees, please reach out to conference chair Kirsten Tulchin-Francis [email protected] for a discount promo code.

Standard attendees receive $50 and student/trainees receive $35 off full conference registration. (Note: Full conference registration of 5 or more individuals from a single lab is required to qualify for the discount.)

Welcome Exhibitors!

The GCMAS is pleased to welcome exhibitors for the 2025 GCMAS Conference. Our exhibitors have a solid tradition of dramatically enhancing the experiences of conference attendees, by providing a wealth of knowledge about and solutions for motion analysis needs.

  • BTS Bioengineering - Gold Level Exhibitor

  • AMTI - Gold Level Exhibitor

  • Moveshelf - Gold Level Exhibitor

  • Vicon Motion System - Gold Level Exhibitor

  • Delsys Inc. - Gold Level Exhibitor

  • Qualisys- Silver Level Exhibitor

Objectives
At the conclusion of this conference, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe and evaluate technologies for measuring kinematic, kinetic, EMG data, in-shoe/foot pressure, gait profiles, and other biomechanical variables of interest
  2. Interpret and critically compare kinematics, kinetic, and EMG data from patients with movement disorders, both before and after treatment
  3. Summarize current best practices for treating gait abnormalities in patients with movement disorders and musculoskeletal disorders/injuries
