Objective(s): 1 Describe the greatest surgical needs worldwide based on Daily Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) and the relative need for care of congenital anomalies based on DALYs. 1 Assess the impact of the number of cleft cases worldwide that will never be repaired based on annual births, as well as cumulative of unrepaired clefts. 2 Recognize the potential leverage that cleft care holds in promoting global surgical care. 3 Identify the timeline for care of a child with cleft lip and palate during the first year of life, and from the first year of life through maturity.
