Smartphone and social media use has exploded amongst adolescent and preadolescent children. In this course, we explore how children are using today's technology and social media and in particular, how it's affecting their mental health.

This session offers a practical overview of using Measurement-Based Care (MBC) in Epic, including how to assign and review standardized measures, interpret trends, and apply results to clinical decision-making. Emphasis is placed on engaging children and families, supporting interdisciplinary communication, and using MBC data as one component of comprehensive, patient-centered care. This knowledge-based session will introduce measurement-based care (MBC), its purpose, theoretical and empirical support, and integration into clinical care. Common measurement tools, including those built directly into the NCH Epic system, will be reviewed. Basic/introductory information about psychometric principles (e.g., validity, and reliability) will be offered to assist with data-based decision-making. Both benefits and limitations of MBC will be discussed.
