Overview

The Ohio PSANE/Forensic Conference is planned for PSANE or forensic nurses, social workers, physicians and those engaging in work in child maltreatment. This event is a great way to keep up to date on work in the pediatric field and network with other Ohio-based programs.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Review normal development and understand problem sexual behaviors in children
  2. Discuss the basics of non-leading forensic interviews and the importance of linkage with mental health services in cases of child sexual abuse
  3. Identify normal ano-genital exam findings including mimics for sexual abuse
  4. Evaluate the significance of acute ano-genital assessment findings
  5. Review testing and pharmacologic management of acute sexual assault victims, including emergency contraception and STI prophylaxis or treatment
  6. Introduce cyber-crimes, strangulation, human trafficking, and teen dating violence relevant to the pediatric SANE/forensic population
  7. Discuss testifying practices and participation in mock trial
  8. Improve collaboration between multidisciplinary teams across the state of Ohio

Accreditation
In support of improving patient care, Nationwide Children's Hospital is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC),  and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), to provide continuing medical education for the healthcare team.
