Overview

This symposium will showcase state-of-the-art mechanistic insights and management strategies for kidney and urological complications in pediatric oncology. It will feature cutting-edge approaches and address gaps in early risk detection and timely intervention to improve cancer treatment tolerability, long-term outcomes, and quality of life 

Target Audience: Physicians, providers, and researchers in nephrology, urology, pharmacology, oncology, hematology, and bone marrow transplant (BMT)


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify signs and characteristics of acute and long-term kidney and urological complications in pediatric patients with cancer
  2. Assess how cancer and anti-cancer therapies can result on kidney and urological complications
  3. Implement strategies that reduce the implications of kidney and urological complications on pediatric oncology patients' care
  4. Identify emerging approaches to prevent or mitigate acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease
  5. Analyze how anti-cancer therapies can be maximized by nephroprotective approaches
  6. Assess the impact of kidney complications and urological complications on patients and caregivers
  7. Strengthen interprofessional communication and collaboration among oncology, nephrology, urology, nursing, and allied health teams to ensure coordinated, patient-centered strategies for early detection, prevention, and management of kidney and urological complications in pediatric cancer care.
