Suicide Prevention Training - 3/21/25 - Risk Assessment & Safety Planning

Non-Physician Attendance (3.00 hours)

This training is intended for anyone on your triage team, administrators, nursing staff, or community agencies/partners who would be interested in conducting risk assessments and is separate from the SOS triage training. You do not have to have a mental health license to complete this risk assessment with students. While it is not a requirement of your SOS program at this time, learning to complete risk assessments will enhance your school’s autonomy as you progress towards independent programming with SOS and overall suicide prevention efforts.
The training objectives are as follows:
1.           Determine when a risk assessment is warranted
2.           Perform a risk assessment using the C-SSRS tool
3.           Complete safety plan as a part of the risk assessment
4.           Recommend appropriate disposition after risk assessment is complete.
5.           Provide appropriate documentation of risk assessment.
