Overview

This course will educate participants in unique return to sport considerations for the adolescent athlete. Areas addressed in this course will include management of growth plate injuries, the role of imaging in rehabilitation, identifying and managing clinician burnout, ACL return to sport guidelines and testing, motion analysis for throwing and running athletes, and more! Concepts of physical therapy evaluation, differential diagnosis, treatment considerations and progressions will be presented. Labs will further expand this knowledge base with hands on experience in the return to sport interventions and tests of adolescent athletes.

This course was approved for 7.5 PT CEU Credits through the Ohio Physical Therapy Association.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Understand evidence based return to sport considerations and testing pertaining to adolescent athletes following ACL reconstruction
  2. Summarize evidence based return to sport decision making processes for adolescent athletes
  3. Identify the role of imaging in the rehab plan of care for adolescent athletes
  4. Understand unique considerations of treating growth plate injuries in the adolescents
  5. Identify signs of clinician burnout and at least 3 management strategies
  6. Apply sport specific interventions for the adolescent softball athlete
  7. Perform testing and interventions for adolescent athletes diagnosed with concussion
  8. Perform video motion analysis of adolescent throwers and runners

In support of improving patient care, Nationwide Children's Hospital is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC),  the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for the healthcare team.
