Overview

The first annual Pediatric Cardiology Symposium for health care providers who treat and evaluate pediatric patients. The conference will address the diagnosis, management, and indications for referral for common pediatric cardiology diagnoses through a combination of lectures, panel discussions, and small group sessions.

Designed to provide general pediatric practitioners with the cardiology knowledge and tools needed for patients with common and not so common pediatric cardiology complaints.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Perform recommended screening, diagnosis, management, and referral recommendations for dyslipidemia.
  2. Perform recommended screening, diagnosis, management, and referral recommendations for hypertension.
  3. Implement management, and referral recommendations for dizziness, syncope, and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).
  4. Interpret common ECG red flags.
  5. Know when to refer for Marfans Syndrome evaluation.
  6. Review the cardiac diagnoses missed by newborn congenital heart disease screening.
  7. Interpret common murmurs and murmur red flags.
  8. Determine the evaluation/management of chest pain and palpitations and referral indications.

In support of improving patient care, Nationwide Children's Hospital is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC),  and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), to provide continuing medical education for the healthcare team.
