Overview

The 3rd Early Childhood Wellness and Nutrition Symposium is presented virtually from NCH Conference Center. This conference is designed for Primary Care Pediatricians, Family Physicians, Dietitians, Nurse Practitioners, Public Health Workers, Social Workers, Child Care Workers, Researchers, Students, Community Organizations, Foundations and other health care professionals who work with children and their families. 

Topics will include:

• State-of-the-art evidence on nutrition and its immunological function, including allergic and gastrointestinal responses and alterations in microbiome, among young children.
• Evidence on the effects of nutrition on normal and abnormal growth patterns, including underweight and early onset severe obesity, among young children.
• Barriers and potential solutions to inequities in social determinants of health related to optimal infant and toddler nutrition and feeding, within the context of multi-sector integration.
• Opportunities for networking and collaboration for attendees from multiple sectors working with young children and their families.

Supported with an unrestricted educational grant from Nestlé Nutrition Institute.


Objectives
  1. Review the state-of-the-art evidence on nutrition and its immunological function, including allergic and gastrointestinal responses and alterations in microbiome, among young children.
  2. Review evidence on the effects of nutrition on normal and abnormal growth patterns, including underweight and early onset severe obesity, among young children.
  3. Assess barriers and potential solutions to inequities in social determinants of health related to optimal infant and toddler nutrition and feeding, within the context of multi-sector integration
  4. Provide opportunities for networking and collaboration for attendees from multiple sectors working with young children and their families
  5. Pilot innovative and compelling interventions via awarded scholarships through the education program
