Overview
This educational symposium will provide a venue for discussion and dissemination of basic, translational and clinical information regarding Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) cancers, as well as age-specific psychosocial barriers, which will foster knowledge transfer between scientists and clinicians in different fields to improve understanding of the pathobiology and treatment options for AYAs with cancer. Organized and coordinated by Nationwide Children's Hospital and The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - Arthur G. James Hospital & Richard J. Solove Research Institute, we hope to help understand why these differences exist, as well as explore the special needs that are required for this patient population.

Objectives
  1. understand the challenges in enrolling AYAs in clinical trials, and how to increase enrollment.
  2. recognize psychosocial needs and implement strategies in the management of AYA patients
  3. identify AYA-specific trials for various diseases
  4. have a better understanding the of oncofertility and sexuality considerations in AYAs
  5. utilize AYA specific supportive care techniques, such as integrative medicine, in the AYA population
  6. be more comfortable in having difficult discussions, such as palliative care discussions, with AYA patients
