Overview
This conference is intended to convene social workers from across the nation to explore strategies for effective communication, collaboration, and advocacy within diverse health care settings. Day One of the conference is focused on local & state issues and opportunities to work together to address the policies and challenges impacting families, social workers and organizations in Ohio. Day Two of the conference will reflect the broad practice of social work in health care throughout the nation with a focus on pediatrics.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify best practices for fostering teamwork and collaboration among health care professionals from various disciplines.
  2. Understand the role of technology, practices and policies that impact communication and collaboration in health care settings.
  3. Apply coalition building skills to address challenges facing social work in healthcare.
  4. Discuss the benefits and challenges of integrating technology into practice in order to impact teamwork and patient advocacy efforts.
  5. Identify and engage key stakeholders to form robust coalitions that address health care challenges and achieve common health care goals.
  6. Discuss specific fields of practice and the preparation of social work departments and clinicians to best serve patients & teams in those specialties.

Registration

In honor of 75 years of Clinical Social Work at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, we are proud to convene the community of partners and social workers that have strengthened and sustained our work over decades of service.   You won’t want to miss this opportunity to come together as Social Workers in Health Care, build community, and work together toward shared goals for our work with patients & families for the future.

Day One We welcome Social Work leaders in health care from throughout the state of Ohio from all healthcare settings.  We will enjoy lunch together & consider policies, rules, and resources unique to our state which impact patients, families, health care organizations, and social workers in health care spaces.  As a consortium group, we will also consider how we might move forward together, building on this community, to promote strong clinical practice that benefits healthcare organizations and the families they serve.

Day Two We welcome Social Work leaders in health care from throughout the U.S. in a pediatric focused intensive day of education & networking.  Social Workers in all settings & at all levels of practice are welcomed to join this day as our topics are translatable and applicable throughout healthcare.  We will enjoy an outstanding slate of speakers representing a range of topics and regions throughout the country and continue to strengthen community with other pediatric focused social workers.

Accreditation
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Nationwide Children's Hospital is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program.
