Overview

This conference is designed for physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners who treat pediatric patients with sports medicine injuries and orthopedic problems. Attendees may choose to attend in-person or virtually on Friday where afternoon breakout tracks in Sports Medicine, Rehabilitation, and MSK Ultrasound will be available. Saturday's program is only available in-person.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Outline the treatment interventions for an athlete that is suffering from slipping rib syndrome
  2. Know the level of specialization that is appropriate for children and adolescents to keep them healthy and free from burnout
  3. Explain the importance of identifying bone tumors in children
  4. Recognize the myths associated with concussion prevention
  5. Assess the epidemiology, diagnosis and management of shin pain in athletes
  6. Identify the latest approach to diagnosing and treating scoliosis

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Nationwide Children's Hospital is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for the healthcare team.

Maximum of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (12.00 hours), AAPA Credit(s) (12.00 hours), BOC (Athletic Trainer) (12.00 hours), Non-Physician Attendance (12.00 hours)
7.00 credits will be provided for completion of Friday's program only.

Medicine CME 
Nationwide Children’s Hospital designates this live activity for a maximum of 12.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.


Physical Therapy
This course will be submitted to the OPTA for 7.0 PT CEUs for Friday, 4.0 for the Rehab Track on Saturday, and 5.0 for the MSK Ultrasound track on Saturday.

Athletic Training
Nationwide Children’s Hospital (BOC AP#: P3772) is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Certified Athletic Trainers. This program is eligible for a maximum of 12.0 Category A CEUs. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program. 

AAPA Statement

Nationwide Children's Hospital has been authorized by the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 12.0 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

Cancellations received in writing no less than 20 days before the course will be refunded, less a 20% administrative fee. No refunds will be made on cancellations received after that date. Please send cancellation requests to [email protected].
