The course addresses fundamental management principles for the first 24 hours of post-resuscitation management of the critically ill pediatric patient or until transfer or appropriate critical care consultation can be arranged.  Cost $175 per participant.  

1. Recognize critical illness and initiate appropriate care.
2. Manage the first 24 hours of post resuscitation management of critically ill pediatric patient
3. Explain how to perform a rapid evaluation of a Childs physiological status
4. Recognize respiratory failure and describe the clinical features of different types of shock
5. Apply the DIRECT methodology. (Detection, Intervention, Reassessment, Effective communication, and Teamwork)
6. Appropriately assess and initiate management of burn injuries in children
7. Identify the factors that influence transport team composition and mode of transport of a critically ill child.
8. Identify the indications, risks, and monitoring needs of patients undergoing sedation, analgesia, and neuromuscular blockade
9. Determine the potential for difficult intubation and discuss alternative methods of establishing a stable airway
10. Rapidly identify the need for CPR to prevent or treat cardiac arrest

In support of improving patient care, Nationwide Children's Hospital is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC),  and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), to provide continuing medical education for the healthcare team.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received in writing no less than 20 days before the course will be refunded, less a 20% administrative fee. No refunds will be made on cancellations received after that date. Please send cancellation requests to [email protected].
