Laura Schwartz, PhD, is a principal investigator in the Kidney and Urinary Tract Center, and Research Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University. Dr. Schwartz studies innate immune responses in urinary tract infection (UTI), with a special focus on antimicrobial peptide (AMP) expression and regulation. Her work investigates the underlying factors that predispose some people to UTI and aims to harness antimicrobial peptides as an alternative to antibiotics to treat or prevent UTI.
