Deborah Grayson is a RN with a background in critical care, public health, and research. She currently works at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in the Center for Child Health Equity and Outcomes Research. As a nurse and a mother, she became frequently frustrated by the gun violence that was ending so many lives, particularly young lives . In 2018, she attended a gun violence prevention program called Be SMART. It was during this presentation that she became hopeful that something could be done to end gun violence in this country. That day she agreed to become a volunteer and present the Be SMART program in the community. Since that time, she has become the Columbus Be SMART lead and actively shares the  safe storage and gun violence prevention message to religious organizations, schools, and  at community events. By educating  adults about gun safety and responsible gun storage, she is hoping that we can prevent child gun deaths and injuries.
